American Licorice Headquarters
Bend, OR
This project exemplifies the inherent potential of all concrete masonry buildings. The playful design evokes the high desert color palette with a polychromate color mixture of concrete block units. Various uses of split face, ground face and smooth face colored block units give this project a local character that ties back to the company’s original stone and masonry building constructed in San Francisco in the late 1800s. The owners receive positive comments about the unique nature of their building as passersby note that it stands out from the numerous wood frame commercial buildings that are found in the Bend, Ore. area.
