Architect’s Office Building
Birmingham, MI
The clever use of masonry helped to transform a modest 3-story building into a striking new headquarters for Victor Saroki & Associates Architects. To convey a sense of warmth and permanence for their new offices, the architects designed a completely new building façade of brick, stone and metal. The building’s height was extended, and brick piers were accentuated to emphasize the verticality of the structure. The body of the façade is a golden colored brick while the base and cornice are detailed in cast stone. Stone is also used to give the building entrance its own distinct identity. Masonry sills, lintels and piers were carefully detailed to provide order and visual texture to the overall design. The result is a crisp and controlled design that evokes the heritage of the original building and blends beautifully with the surrounding neighborhood.
