Masonry was chosen for the façade to contribute to a rich and durable building form. The masonry offered an economical, yet long-lasting solution, which made future expansions seamless. The choice to use a large brick and stack bond pattern gives the building an abstract, contemporary look with traditional material. The large brick module in a stack pattern creates a more static reading to the building, as opposed to smaller brick used in a more traditional running bond. These double-high bricks support a sense of permanence, as though the building has been a part of this site for decades. This building has also been designed to allow for future expansion on top of the current design. Brick is a perfect choice to allow for maximum future flexibility, in a way that retains the character of the original building.
